How old do you charge for children?

Children between 5 and 10 years old will be charged the Child price. Below 5 years old, no charge.

What type of food do you serve in your buffet?

We serve mainly Penang cuisine such as Penang Char Kway Teow, Assam Laksa, Penang Hokkien Mee, Beef Rendang, Assam Prawns, Lobak (chicken), Fruits Rojak, Chendol and much more.

How many Buffet items are there in your spread?

The buffet spread starts from at least 30 items.

Is the restaurant Halal certified?

The restaurant does not serve pork or use lard. The restaurant is not certified halal as we serve alcoholic beverages such as wine and beer. However, many Muslims are our regular restaurant and catering customers as they consider our food to be acceptable.

Are drinks included in the buffet?

Drinks are sold separately. For buffet diners, coffee & tea are charged at just $1++/cup. Usual price is $2.90++/cup.

Do you have an A La Carte menu?

Can we bring our own alcoholic beverage?

There is a corkage charge of $20++/bottle. Alternatively, you may select from our wide range of wines.

Can we bring our own food?

Outside food is not allowed. For special dietary request, you may email your request and we will try our best to accommodate.

What is your seating capacity?

The restaurant can seat 350 pax.

Do you have a stage, screen, projector and microphone?

We do not have a stage nor a projector. We do have a microphone.

What modes of payment do you accept?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Grabpay NETS or Cash at the restaurant. Online payment is via PayNow using 199803916K

Is it necessary to make reservations?

Yes, advance bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment.  You may also wish to email your reservation to catering@penangplace.com.

How early in advance should I reserve?

For festive periods and weekends, it is highly recommended to reserve early to avoid disappointment.

When is the latest you accept bookings?

Bookings are on a first come, first serve basis so it is recommended to reserve early to avoid disappointment.

 

How many VIP rooms do you have?

There are 2 VIPs rooms. Each room has a 6 feet round table which can seat up to 12 pax. The VIP rooms can be combined into 1 big room.

T&C for booking the VIP rooms

There are no surcharges for booking the VIP room. However, there is a minimum chargeable of 10 buffet diners PER ROOM. Every person in the room will be considered as a buffet diner as a la carte orders are not permitted in the room.

What is the minimum order?

The catering minimum is 30 pax at $36/pax for 10 items (8 main, 1 dessert & 1 drink). A surcharge of $3/pax applies for orders on Friday dinner, Saturdays, Sundays, Eve of & on Public Holidays.

What is provided in your minimum catering package?

We provide tables with table cloths and overlays for the buffet spread, all necessary food warmers with food labels, serving utensils, eco-friendly disposable dining ware based on selected menu and required equipment for on-site blanching.

 

Do you provide fine dining ware?

You may opt to rent all necessary porcelain, stainless steel & glass dining ware, base on ordered menu at $10+/pax. Kindly note that rental of wine glasses are charged separately at $2/glass.

 

Do you provide "Live" stations?

Yes, you may hire a Chef to fry the Char Kway Teow, at $300/chef ($350/chef on Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday, Eve of & on Public Holidays) for 3 hours or when all the ingredients are consumed, whichever comes first. The Char Kway Teow is the only station that requires a Chef to cook from scratch.

Other “live” stations which require on site preparation are the Hokkien Mee (Prawn Noodle Soup), Assam Laksa, Mee Jawa, Curry Mee, Jiu Hu Eng Chai, Kueh Pie Tee, Chendol & Ice Kachang

What are the rates for service staff?
  • $30/staff per hour on regular weekdays
  • $40/staff/hour for Friday Dinner, Saturday, Sunday, Eves of & On Public Holidays. Subject to GST and availability.
Can I order below the catering minimum?

For orders below the catering minimum, you may opt for the mini buffet delivery which does not include any setup and all items will be packed in disposable containers.

Are you Halal?

Can I choose half-half portioning of selected items?

This is not encouraged as the halved items are highly likely to run out fast. This will in turn reflect badly on both the host and caterer.

What is the time duration for a catering?

According to NEA requirements, catered or delivered food is to be consumed within 4 hours from the time it is cooked and ready to eat. As such, clear up is usually within 3 hours from the Ready By Time.

Can I request for time extension to clear up?

Yes, you may, subject to availability. However, in view of NEA’s consume by time, Penang Place will not be held responsible for any illness which may arise from the delayed consumption of our food.

Please note the surcharges for the following time extension: $60/hour or $90/hour after 10pm. Charges are subject to GST.

How do I pay for catering?

Payment is to be made in full before delivery via Oaynow. Cheques are to be written to Barachel Management Services Pte Ltd. E-transfer can be made via PayNow using: 199803916K.

Payment by Credit Card via online invoicing will be subjected to a 3% Surcharge.

Do you provide fine dining wares?

Yes. Rental of all necessary fine dining ware, based on selected menu, is available at $10/pax. Price is subject to GST.

What is the minimum order for delivery?

There is no minimum order but a $80 delivery charge applies. Subject to 8% GST.

Is there a Delivery menu?

Do you provide disposable cutlery?

Yes, disposable dining ware will be provided.

How will the food be packed?

All food items will be packed and delivered in disposable containers and no setup will be provided.

How do I pay for delivery?

Upon confirmation, payment is to be made in full via a unique Hitpay Link that will be provided via Whatsapp from our Whatsapp number +65 6467 7003. Paynow or Credit Card Payment is accepted through the Hitpay Link. Payment may also be made at the Restaurant.

What is the minimum order for Take-away?

There is no minimum order.
